On its tenth anniversary, the Euroregion enters a new cycle from a consolidated position thanks to the achievements of the last six years. Since its creation in 2011 and at the time of publishing its new roadmap, the Euroregion has funded 136 projects to the tune of €3.9 million, managed 7 European projects in the fields of employment, training, transport and economy, and won 4 awards at European levels.
In light of this, the Euroregion has published its 2021-2027 Strategic Plan, including five strategic priorities and 68 lines of action. Thanks to the complementarities of existing strengths, the Plan aims to generate synergies that will lead to better results in the following areas :
AXIS 1 : EUROREGIONAL CITIZENSHIP
The aim is to promote the notion of Euroregional Citizenship as a key element, by strengthening Euroregional identity, encouraging language learning, improving the quality of life of the citizens and promoting cultural activities. Among others, measures will be taken to :
- To encourage the promotion, creation and dissemination of euroregional culture
- To encourage the interaction and participation of young people
- To promote the practice of euroregional sports
- To meet contemporary social and demographic challenges
AXIS 2 : INTELLIGENT, COMPETITIVE, INCLUSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The objective is to support, from a local and cross-border pespective, the competitive and resilient development of the Euroregion in the context of the digital revolution and via smart specialisation strategies, to ensure the sustainable developments of the territory, the emergence of new knowledge and innovations, the professional and university training, the dynanism of the employment area and the commitment to the circular economy. The following priorities for actions have been identified :
- Promotion of strategics sectors in the three territories
- Promotion of euroregional trade
- Commitment to digital
- Information for cross-border workers
- Promotion of the euroregional higher education model (university and professional training)
- Transition to a circular economy model
AXIS 3 : SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND TERRITORIAL COHESION
The aim is to promote cross-border cooperation in the areas of ecological transition, management of shared spaces and natural resources, and transport in order to make the Euroregion a sustainable, interconnected and cohesive territory. The main issues to be addressed will be :
- Combating climate change
- Spatial planning and natural spaces
- Cross-border mobility
- Sustainable tourism
AXIS 4 : CROSS-BORDER GOVERNANCE
The aim is to develop a multi-level cross-border governance model with a participatory approach that promotes diversity, equality, territorial and social cohesion, multilingualism and sustainable development in order to improve the quality of life of cross-border citizens, competitiveness in the euroregional space and the sustainability of the territory.
AXIS 5 : INNOVATIVE MANAGEMENT OF THE EUROREGION
The aim is to have the tools and data needed to improve both its potisition and visibility in its environment and its management and decision-making process in the cross-border area. The Euroregion will work to implement a euroregional scoreboard that will provide consistent, high quality and comparable information and develop a tool to identify and resolve cross-border obstacles. In addition, the aim is to improve its communication and positioning at cross-border, euroregional and european level.
